Brisbane artist specialising in abstract landscapes
& seascapes using acrylics
Natalie’s childhood was spent exploring the Melaleuca wetlands of Slade Point in Mackay. Here she would play for hours with her sisters climbing trees, chasing blue tiger butterflies, exploring the sand dunes… It was through this exploration she developed a deep love and appreciation for nature, often marveling at the wonderful colours and textures in bark, leaves, vines and ferns. These experiences also became the inspiration for her early artwork. During this time, Nat was extremely privileged to have a few years art instruction under the inspirational tutelage of the late Clem Forbes. She studied art and science at High School and then left to study Palaeontology at James Cook University in Townsville. Upon leaving university Nat worked for many years in the Palaeontology section of the Queensland Museum in Brisbane. It wasn’t until 2005 that she decided to return to her art more seriously. Drawing upon memories and experiences of her childhood she began to experiment with different layers of texture mediums and colour combinations eventually developing her unique abstract style of acrylic painting. She now works from home tutoring Maths and painting every day.
